Easter Recycling

I hope I don't seem like I am repeating myself too much, but I really do think we need this reminder every year. It's all too easy to get distracted by everyday life. Besides, these lists are a good reminder for me too! 😊

Here's a refresher for Easter shopping and dealing with the aftermath:

  • Buy gifts with the least packaging. e.g. loose Easter eggs are good because you can recycle the aluminum foil and there's no unnecessary packaging.
  • Plastic packaging around Easter eggs isn't always marked with a plastic number 1 to 7, so it's best to avoid it.
  • Save boxes, baskets, or packaging to repurpose next year.
  • Check second-hand stores for gifts, decorations, and Easter gift packaging.
  • Use colored wooden eggs for your Easter egg hunt, they'll reduce the risk of plastic being left in the environment.

My tips on recycling your Easter packaging. As always, check your local rules before recycling:

  • Cardboard and paper generally go in your curbside recycling collection bin.
  • Check plastics carefully, as the rules differ depending on where you live.
  • Collect aluminum foil and roll it up in a ball, then toss it in your recycling bin. Why not make a game of it with the kids?
  • Soft plastics can be collected and taken to a local drop-off point if you have one.

Spring is here and summer's on it's way

With spring just about to start and summer on its way, it's a good time to consider what you can do differently this year to reduce your impact. My article offers plenty of ways for you to lower your impact this summer and find amazing recycled products to have fun in the sun.

Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a global movement organized by the WWF. During this hour-long event, individuals, communities, and businesses turn off non-essential lights to raise awareness about climate change and energy conservation. It takes place annually on the last Saturday of March and encourages collective action for a sustainable future. Find out more here.
